The mannequin project was interesting. It was something very different and it was nice to be creative outside the traditional forms, but it was also nice to see and listen to others sweet ideas about what to do with it. We didn’t think of the many things that we could do to interact with the dummy until we actually started walking around at night and improvising and seeing all the possibilities that arose in front of us. Sometimes you just have to get into the environment to give your brain a jump start.

Posted in Uncategorized on September 28, 2008 by lemartellThese are some of my works in progress. I am one of those people who enjoy taking pictures of my work in process– I find it to be extremely helpful in looking at my work. Lately, I have been between conflicting methods when beginning a new work. I’m producing a slower methodical process of paint applications and much faster and flater forms as well, both are interesting to me and since I tend to work intuitively and rapid–somethings don’t go as I had planned them. I have learned that this poses an interesting question that I am left with… what stays and what goes? I am trying to challenge as well as deal with the outcomes as a learning process.
Interesting Artist i found
Posted in Uncategorized on September 14, 2008 by lemartellI have been looking at a lot of work recently and found the artist John Winslow. I really like the way that he uses color and i really enjoyed to see these paintings with lots of figures in them. I have always been really interested in live performance on stage–whether it be dance, music or theater and i feel that his work really capture the essence of the moments that happen on stage.
